FALL PROGRAMS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MAY 15, 2022.

For your planning purposes here’s the summary of what we offer starting March 28, 2022. 

After-School Basketball & Fitness + Optional Dodgeball and Kickball is back - CLICK HERE

Location: Riverside Park at West 76th Street & under overpass at W72nd if it rains

Grades: K-5/6 divided by age/grade into separate groups. Email the office for older groups/special requests Grades 6 and up outside after school. Suggestion: Weeknight Boost is a good fit for Grades 6 and up.

Exact Dates: March 29-May 27 – with possible bonus week

Time: 3:45-5pm with 3:30pm early arrival and 5:15pm late dismissal as needed

Cost: $450 for 9 sessions – we are likely to add BONUS week after Memorial Weekend = 10

Description: Drills, skills, scrimmage time and fun. Players meet on the courts at West 76th Street/Riverside Park and begin our stations, training and games. Towards the end of the workout, we give players the option to stay on the courts or to go to the field at W77th for dodgeball, Capture the Flag, kickball and relay races.

Bring: Your own basketball, water bottle, snack, optional mask, sneakers.

Location: PS 9 enter on West 83rd/Columbus

Grades: 6-7:20pm Grades 2-5 (grades K-1 exceptions granted)–separated by age group on six adjustable hoops, Grades 6&Up from 6:15-7:45pm

Exact Dates: March 29-May 27 with possible bonus week = 9 total (will include bonus week)
We will go outside for Easter/Passover Spring Break week with adjusted times
**System auto pro rates for missed classes so enrollment is open all spring.

Time: Grades 2-5 from 6-7:20pm; Grades 6-9 from 6:15-7:45pm

Cost: $450

Description: Weeknight Boosts are offered for kids who want to increase repetitions, ball handling and passing touches and improve shooting form. We also cover fastbreak concepts, Motion offense and shell defense in preparation for scrimmage time. We add relay races, shooting games and occasional prizes to keep the kids motivated individually and as a team.

Bring: Your own ball (27.5inch for ages 5-9, 28.5 inch for ages 10&up and all girls; regulation 29.5 inch ball for boys ages 13 and up)

Grades K-3 Weekend Programs (Saturdays and Sundays) - CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

Location: PS 452 enter on W61st/Amsterdam (on Saturday) and The Computer School (W77th/bet Col and Ams) on Sunday

Grades: Split on courts and in groups by age/grade level and size for Grades K-1, Grades 2-3

Exact Dates: Weekends starting 4/2 and ending 5/22 (off Easter Weekend) and bonus week outside the week of June 4-5 if weather permits) = 8 total plus possible bonus

Time: SATURDAYS 9-10:30am for Gr K-1, 9:15-11am for Gr 2-3 (separate courts)
SUNDAYS 9-10:45am for Grades K-1 and 2-3 – separate courts (we tend to start closer to 9:15am)

Cost: $500

Description: Bring your own ball to our weekend workout built for grades K-1 and grades 2-3 based on appropriate skills, drills, fun games, scrimmage time and conditioning. We use 4-6 lower hoops when possible and smaller balls (27.5 inch) per NBA recommendations for this age group. Use Saturday as a makeup for Sunday if you have to miss (email the office). Don’t forget to bring your own ball, mask (per NYC guidelines) and water bottle.

These events will be offered on Sat and Sun with a third option – a BOOST – after-school for skill work – your pick – email Mo your choice).

Location: Upper west side gyms–PS 452, PS 9, MS 54 Booker T and Anderson

Grades: Broken down by grades 3-4, grades 5-6, grades 7-8/9. Practice players (half a schedule are an option if you email [email protected] and see what is possible)

Exact Dates: March 28-June 10th and maybe June 12th if needed and kids want an extra weekend (or we can do privates with Motion staff that weekend).  Off Easter and Memorial Weekends.  Motion will also suggest other summer camp options via a blog in April.

Time: Varies depending on program – see below for breakdown

Cost: Grades 3-4 is $1,100 and Grades 5-8 are $1350 for 9-10 spring weeks

Description: Optional weeknight Boost – player picks Tues-Fri and if you want another Boost, it is half off. Sat-Sun is mandatory time. Ideal participation is 2-3x a week around spring sports.

  • Grades 3-4 Coed Team Play: Pick your Boost Weeknight – email [email protected] your pick for it is included in team membership. Saturday workouts are 11am-1pm at PS 452 on W61st/Ams, and Sunday 9-11am at MS 54 Booker T. Games sometimes extend slightly outside windows. Click HERE to register. 
  • Grades 5-6 Boys’ Team Play:  Pick your Boost Weeknight – email [email protected] your pick for it is included (yet optional) in team membership.  Saturday workouts are 9-11am at MS 54 Booker T; Sundays 11-1pm.  Games are as close to these windows at home as possible.  Away games at Riverbank State Park or other leagues we enter can vary time/day wise–it is impossible to say for sure given that other directors schedule us, but Riverbank in the past has been on Sunday afternoons.  We build out as many games as possible so players can get game minutes.)  We try to play in local tournaments for 4-5 weekends of the 10 offered.   • Grade 7-8 Boys’ Team Play: Pick your Boost Weeknight – email [email protected] your pick for it is included (yet optional) in team membership.  Saturday workouts are usually 1-3pm or 3-5pm at MS 54 Booker T and Sunday afternoons 11-1 or 1-3pm. Games are as close to these windows at home as possible.  Away games at Riverbank State Park or other leagues we enter can vary time/day wise–it is impossible to say for sure given that other directors schedule us, but Riverbank in the past has been on Sunday afternoons.  We build out as many games as possible so players can get game minutes.)  We try to play in local tournaments for 4-5 weekends of the 10 offered or every week in the Riverbank State Park league – depending on their offerings TBA.   • Grades 5-6 Girls – We may offer to split this to SAT or SUN if interest isn’t high for full spring team play (may conflict with soccer).  Email Mo if you want to do the full team play program up to 3x a week or just one day per weekend, and which day. Pick your Boost Weeknight – email [email protected] your pick for it is included (yet optional) in team membership.  Saturday workouts are usually 11-1 at MS 54 Booker T and Sunday afternoons 11a-1p. Games are as close to these windows at home as possible.  Local League participation is in Riverbank State Park or teams playing in our own gyms.  Girls need to catch up on training and development as a priority over games for 3-4 weeks before we add games.   • Grades 7-9 Girls:  Pick your Boost Weeknight – email [email protected] your pick for it is included (yet optional) in team membership.  Saturday workouts are usually 1-3pm or 3-5pm at MS 54 Booker T and Sunday afternoons 1-3pm or 3-5pm. Games are as close to these windows at home as possible.  Away games could be at Riverbank State Park and/or in local weekend one-off tournaments in Westchester or NJ.  We train hard for three weeks before shifting to game focus.  Our final tournament has historically been in Queens in early June.  We will play through June 12 if we have enough girls who can play that weekend. Girls Grade 8-9 are in our Gr 7-9 (very skilled) programming slot where we do reps OR these players are included on the Gr 8-9 team and participate in games. It is likely we will split into a Gr 6-7 team and a Gr 8-9 team. Email Mo for more info to be evaluated to make sure it is the right fit, and schedules match.
