2023 SUMMER CAMP MOTION – Half and Full Day options

SUMMER ’23!  Let’s go!  We are bringing Camp Mo’ Motion Back!  ALL SUMMER!  Half days, full days, by the day and we are adding privates when staff are free on our spare courts.  We will be at West 76th Street Basketball Courts in Riverside Park and under the overpass if it rains at W70th for hoops, strength, fitness in the AM until it gets hot.

Then we switch to our creative mode in the afternoon.  It will include but not be limited to — talent shows, local field trips (by foot or bus only), music playing, writing, singing, scavenger hunts and even some volunteer work.  Kids get to pick, and they have loved every week of Camp Motion in the past.  We end with an awesome game of dodgeball and kickball.

Who: Players entering Grades 2-3, Grades 4-5 and Grades 6-8 Separated by GROUPS/baskets.  Our alum Gr 9 and up will be training with the kids and also serve as fitness and creativity counselors.
Where:  W76th Street/Riverside Park Basketball Courts – If it rains, we are under the overpass at W70th Street
Days:  Mon-Fri (see weeks below) or pick your own day – day rates apply
Time:  Early arrival is 9am, but most kids arrive for 9:30pm start.  12pm pickup or 12:30pm pickup for half day; 3:30pm pickup for full day.
Cost:  $325 for half days all week; $525 for full days all week;
Day rate:  $125 for half day per day; $150 for full day per day
BRING:  BYO BALL, energy, creativity (for afternoons)!   Water bottle.  Optional snacks.  Lunch?  It’s Bring Your Own (on the first day), but Motion announces lunch once we poll the kids and make sure there are no food allergies.

What to Expect in the AM:  WORKOUT – Train, Play and GET FIT

9-9:30am – Arrival at W76th Street Basketball Courts/Riverside Drive (Park).  Find the Mo’ Motion group (south court).  Warmup includes proper stretching and ball handling plus conditioning (Motion mile is included in every week’s itinerary).

9:30-10:45am – Drills, skills, strength circuit with major emphasis on form (layups, shooting, proper running and strength mechanics)

10:45am-11:00 – Snack/fuel before 1on1, 3on3, 4on4 or 5on5 – tournaments and fun

11-11:30am – Back to drills, skills and competitions.

11:30-12pm – Back to playing time – controlled settings for younger kids who are new to hoops, and more competitive events for older kids.

12-12:30pm – LUNCH and half day dismissal.

What to Expect in the PM:  Create, Explore, Play, Show, Tell – Kids get to pick!

12:30-1:30pm – Storytelling, music playing and writing wherever we end up – under the bridge, at the closest museum, at the library.

1:30-2:30pm – Groups together with coaches on how to develop their communication skills and we will also do some improv!

2:30-3:30pm – Back to fitness at the park!  Stability, mobility, yoga in the shade and then we end the day with an awesome day of kickball!

3:30pm – Pick up is at W76th Street Basketball Courts – Riverside Park, southern most court COURT 10.

JULY:  July 5-7 ($300 for three days, $150 for half); July 10-14; July 17-21; July 24-28
AUG:  July 31-Aug 4; Aug 7-11; Aug 14-18; Aug 21-25; Aug 28-Aug 31 ($400 for full week, $300 for half)
**Then we take a break and start up fall on Sept 12!
